Patients weighing 100 lbs (45 kg) or more require professional personnel and equipment for safe handling, per ISO/TR-12296 guidelines.
RED RISK
Manual handling is prohibited for patients weighing 155 lbs (70 kg) or above. Professional equipment is mandatory.
NIOSH RECOMMENDATION
The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) recommends a maximum weight lift for patient-handling tasks of 35 lbs.
